Paint me happy

This is a mural I did a few years ago at a children's music school. It's about 15' x 13'. It was a little strange: I had the urge to do a mural, so I called a friend who had just opened a music school. They had giant, black walls and were amazingly fine with my painting them. This photo is pretty dark.

Sorry there's not much new here. I just took a new job - very excited! I promise to keep new things posted here - hopefully more than I have been lately!

Here's a portrait I drew from a photo many, too many years ago. The subject is a former music director of Yorkminster in NYC - there's some random family/friend connection between him and me that I won't bore you with now. Promise more to come before the end of the month!!!

Well, this beer/wine label I made in honor of last night Bears vs. Packers game came true. The Bears completely tanked. Oh well, on to the playoffs!!! (That's Tank Johnson in the drawing, for you non-football fans.)

Mask - Cleaning Up Nicole

I honestly had this sketch in the works before Nicole Ritchie had her latest stumble in the news! Not that I'm happy, but it's just funny timing - but then, she's in the news every other minute and a half, so chances are pretty good. I have more to add to this, but wanted to get it in before this week's Illustration Friday topic went bye-bye.

The topic is "Mask". I immediately thought of how celebrities (and we slightly hungover mortals) use these massive sunglasses to hide, or, at least, to make an attempt to. It's just an acceptable, everyday mask.

Banana Reclining

This is a preliminary sketch for a Xmas present I'm drawing for my mom. She's obsessed with fruits and veg and getting them in at every meal. I thought this would be a funny way to pay tribute to her favorite fruit; give it the romantic treatment. I used Manet's Olympia as a starting point, but I'm going to come up with my own fainting couch - time permitting! And now I have actual bananas to draw from (bought out Starbucks this morning.)

This is my Illustration Friday entry for "Might." What? Who says you can't do homonyms? Well, this guy is the not so mighty mite. I did these illustrations for an allergy poster for kids (but they didn't end up printing the poster, sniff.) The other guys are obviously cat and roach, but I can't remember what the blue one was called. Asp-something???
